STEPS:
1. Be sure to include your NAME, E-MAIL,
TELEPHONE NUMBER and "SUGGESTED HEADLINE" in the form below.
2. Type your article using a word-processor, select ALL, then COPY. Paste (or just
type it) the article into the "BODY" field below.
3. Click on the "SUBMIT" button and your article will be sent directly
to our office.
4. Enjoy being a "reporter" and keeping everyone up-to-date on the
activities of your section, club or organization.

HINTS AND GUIDELINES
DEADLINES for
The Aurora Newspaper are as follows: 12:00 noon Wednesday for classified ads;
3:00 p.m. Wednesday preceding publication date for all other advertising and
those requiring proofs. Editorial material MUST be typed and MUST be accompanied
by an electronic/digital (MS-Word® file) and a printed
hard copy, the originator's name, address and telephone number no later than
9:30 a.m. Thursday. Or E-mail us at

WHO MAY CONTRIBUTE?
The Aurora Newspaper
invites all that may wish to contribute. Let every one know about your unit,
organization, club or group activities. We do ask that you follow the
accompanying guidelines. This ensures accuracy and prompt attention.
GUIDELINES
* Please ensure that
copy is typed in UPPER & LOWER case.
* French articles MUST
include accents.
* Include a
"suggested headline" for the article .
* Names are set in
upper and lower cases. Ranks and names are printed using the guidelines set out
in the Canadian Press "Caps and Spelling" booklet.
Examples:
BGen. AB Smith would
be: Brig.-Gen. A.B. Smith or Brigadier General A.B. Smith
Cpl T. Bloggins would
be: Cpl T. Bloggins or Corporal T. Bloggins
WO OP White would be:
Warrant Officer O.P. White
* Avoid using acronyms
or short-form designations that are not familiar to any but those of your branch
or service. Please spell it out for the benefit of all readers.
When submitting graphics (i.e.
logos, etc.) along with your articles they MUST be separated from the document.
In other words, submit the document as one file (MS-WORD) and any accompanying graphics as
separate, individual files. These graphic files must be in one of the following
formats: BMP, JPG, TIF OR GIF, and may be dropped of at our office or e-mailed
to: aurora@auroranewspaper.com.

* Permission from
the author must be obtained for the re-printing of Copyright material.
* The deadline for
articles is 9:30 a.m., Thursday, previous to publication, unless otherwise
notified.
* Captions for
standard "Grip & Grin" photos should emphasize the recipient, not
the presenter. (We are sure that the Colonel or CO will not mind being
up-staged. After all, it is Bloggin's moment of glory.) It should read: Cpl. T.
Bloggins was presented with whatever by whomever.
Feel free to include
photographs with your submissions. Action photos have more interest than group
or "grip and grin" shots.
Digital photographs
are preferred and must be in either a "TIF", "BMP" or "JPG"
format, minimum 6 inches wide with a resolution of at least 300 dpi. If photographs are submitted digitally, please call to make sure that
they are compatible and clear.
* All submissions to
the newspaper MUST include the originator's name and telephone number.
* Submissions to The
Aurora Newspaper that do not meet the above requirements are placed last on the
list for production which, because of time, will usually result in the item not
being published.
* Editing of copy,
selection of photos and cropping of photos for publication are at the discretion
of the Managing Editor. Photographs will be published at the discretion of the
Managing Editor as
time and space permit.
* Those wishing to
have submitted material returned may pick it up at our office on the day
following publication.
* It is recommended
that regular contributors to The Aurora Newspapers have two diskettes and rotate
their use.
* If you know of
something that you feel deserves publicity, take the pictures and write about it
yourself. Your contributions to YOUR newspaper are not only welcome but are also
NEEDED.
