WHO MAY CONTRIBUTE?

The Aurora Newspaper invites all that may wish to contribute. Let every one know about your unit, organization, club or group activities. We do ask that you follow the accompanying guidelines. This ensures accuracy and prompt attention.

 GUIDELINES

* Please ensure that copy is typed in UPPER & LOWER case.

* French articles MUST include accents.

* Include a "suggested headline" for the article.

* Names are set in upper and lower cases. Ranks and names are printed using the guidelines set out in the Canadian Press "Caps and Spelling" booklet.

Examples:

BGen. AB Smith would be: Brig.-Gen. A.B. Smith or Brigadier General A.B. Smith

Cpl T. Bloggins would be: Cpl T. Bloggins or Corporal T. Bloggins

WO OP White would be: Warrant Officer O.P. White

* Avoid using acronyms or short-form designations that are not familiar to any but those of your branch or service. Please spell it out for the benefit of all readers.

When submitting graphics (i.e. logos, etc.) along with your articles they MUST be separated from the document. In other words, submit the document as one file (MS-WORD) and any accompanying graphics as separate, individual files. These graphic files must be in one of the following formats: BMP, JPG, TIF OR GIF, and may be dropped of at our office or e-mailed to: aurora@auroranewspaper.com.

For further clarification, please call us.

* Permission from the author must be obtained for the re-printing of Copyright material.

* The deadline for articles is 9:30 a.m., Thursday, previous to publication, unless otherwise notified.

* Captions for standard "Grip & Grin" photos should emphasize the recipient, not the presenter. (We are sure that the Colonel or CO will not mind being up-staged. After all, it is Bloggin's moment of glory.) It should read: Cpl. T. Bloggins was presented with whatever by whomever.

Feel free to include photographs with your submissions. Action photos have more interest than group or "grip and grin" shots.

Digital photographs are preferred and must be in either a "TIF", "BMP" or "JPG" format, minimum 6 inches wide with a resolution of at least 300 dpi. If photographs are submitted digitally, please call to make sure that they are compatible and clear.

* All submissions to the newspaper MUST include the originator's name and telephone number.

* Submissions to The Aurora Newspaper that do not meet the above requirements are placed last on the list for production which, because of time, will usually result in the item not being published.

* Editing of copy, selection of photos and cropping of photos for publication are at the discretion of the Managing Editor. Photographs will be published at the discretion of the Managing Editor as time and space permit.

* Those wishing to have submitted material returned may pick it up at our office on the day following publication.

* It is recommended that regular contributors to The Aurora Newspapers have two diskettes and rotate their use.

* If you know of something that you feel deserves publicity, take the pictures and write about it yourself. Your contributions to YOUR newspaper are not only welcome but are also NEEDED.
